Singapore group to build central Vietnam tourism complex

Singaporean Banyan Tree group has pledged US$200 million to build an international standard tourism and services complex in an economic zone in central Vietnam.

The 200 ha complex in Thua Thien-Hue province's Chan May-Lang Co economic zone (EZ) will include six resorts and hotels with 2,400 rooms, according to a memorandum of understanding the firm signed recently with the local government.

Banyan Tree has invested in 60 such complexes in 22 countries.

The Chan May-Lang Co EZ, located some 70 km from the provincial capital Hue, was established in January last year.

The 27,000 ha zone boasts a seaport and Lang Co, one of the country's most beautiful beaches.

It offers various incentives to investors and has attracted 61 projects, including 23 involving tourism.
