Taman Tasik Titiwangsa will be turned into the latest tourist destination in Kuala Lumpur, in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2007.
Deputy Tourism Minister Datuk Donald Lim said the government wanted to make the former mining lake and its surroundings a happening spot to attract both local and foreign tourists.
The main attraction is the 60m-high Eye on Malaysia ferris wheel launched on Saturday. Several interesting programs would also be lined up for the lake area.
“The ministry will work closely with other related bodies to plan interesting activities and programs at the lake,” he told reporters after launching the ‘Deng Nai Rong’ oil painting exhibition at Wisma Kebudayaan Soka Gakkai Malaysia (SGM) here Sunday.
Lim said the area would be further spruced up with attractive lightings and interesting events organized to suit the taste of locals and foreigners.
“We want it to be ‘the place’ in the city, where visitors can enjoy the beautiful lake and the breathtaking view of the capital,” he added.
On another matter, Lim said the ministry had held discussions with the police on ways to beef up security at popular tourist destinations nationwide.
“I was told that the number of policemen patrolling such areas in the country will increase from 300 to 2,000,” he added.
Ninety paintings by Prof Deng Nai Rong will be on display at the exhibition till Jan 14, from 11am to 6pm daily. Admission is free. For further details call.
