Third Hard Rock Hotel in Asia to open in Malaysia

HPL Hotels & Resorts has confirmed that Malaysia has been chosen as the country to house the third Hard Rock Hotel in Asia. The Batu Ferringhi in Penang is scheduled to open in late 2008.

The first Hard Rock Hotel in Asia was opened in Bali in 1998. The 418-room Hard Rock Hotel Bali was followed by a 320-room Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya in 2001. Both resorts have been well received by both the local and international markets with Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya named the “Hard Rock Hotel of the Year” by Hard Rock International in 2005.

Casuarina Beach Resort, which closed in Dec 2006, will undergo extensive renovation to give the property a complete makeover before it opens as the 255-room Hard Rock Hotel Penang. Keeping true to Hard Rock’s Iconic image, Asia’s third Hard Rock Hotel will feature hip, contemporary design combined with exciting activities and energetic service that preserves the brand’s passion.

There are currently 8 Hard Rock Hotels around the world, located in Bali, Biloxi, Chicago, Hollywood, Las Vegas, Orlando, Pattaya and Tampa. 2 more Hard Rock Hotels are scheduled to open in the fall of 2007 – Hard Rock Hotel San Diego and Hard Rock Hotel New York.
